From my home in the Sandia Mountains of New Mexico, I make
each Jolie Designs item by hand, with the help of two energetic
little boys, a patient husband, and two lazy dogs.
Somehow, I manage to come up with new things each week.
Though I'm lucky to come from a long line of talented sewers,
I only recently began making things on my own. I wanted
to find a way to work with fabric, make things, and be able
to work from home. (I left an office in 1999 and I never
want to go back!)
Thanks to my darling hubby, and two boys too young to protest,
Jolie Designs has become an outlet for my creative inclinations.
The inspiration for Jolie Designs (and the model for the
Jolie Girl logo), comes from my sister, Jolie Wingo, who
died in 1997 at the age of 25. I continually look for ways
to honor and celebrate her memory--what could be more perfect
than pretty handbags bearing her name? She would love these
products, and I hope a little bit of her exuberance and
joy for life makes it into each Jolie product.
